Description
Hedera (HBAR) is a decentralized public network that allows individuals and businesses to create powerful decentralized applications (dApps). Launched in 2019, Hedera is governed by a council of global organizations including Google, IBM, and Boeing. The platform uses a unique consensus mechanism called Hashgraph, which provides high throughput, low latency, and security equivalent to that of blockchains like Bitcoin or Ethereum, but with much greater efficiency. HBAR, the native token, is used for transaction fees, network security, and rewarding participants in the Hedera ecosystem.
