Description
Maker (MKR) is the governance token of the MakerDAO and Maker Protocol, a decentralized finance (DeFi) platform on Ethereum that allows users to issue and manage the stablecoin DAI. Launched in 2017, Maker allows MKR holders to vote on important decisions regarding the protocol, including risk parameters and new collateral types. MKR is also used to recapitalize the system in case of a deficit. DAI, the stablecoin issued by the Maker Protocol, is pegged to the US dollar and is widely used in the DeFi ecosystem.
